Wallace “Wally” Clare Berg

Wallace Berg
Wallace “Wally” Clare Berg was born October 25, 1938, in Colfax, Wisconsin to Byron and Clara Berg. Wally graduated from Colfax High School in 1956 and shortly thereafter moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to start a career. Wally married the love of his life Donna Mae Halvorson on June 11, 1960, in Van Nuys, California. They returned to Minnesota to start their marriage and family raising four boys together. Wally was blessed in finding his true calling with a lifelong career in sales. His mission was to provide the absolute best customer service and build strong relationships which often transcended beyond business. Wally was strong in faith, and he with Donna raised their four boys in the church. For many years Wally was an active member and leader of Christiania Lutheran church in Lakeville, Minnesota. Wally enjoyed being in the woods or on the water. He introduced his sons to the outdoors and the hunting and fishing traditions have since flourished across generations in the Berg family. He especially loved deer hunting and walleye fishing with his family and friends. Wally believed there was nothing more important than family. He taught us how to work hard and pray hard. And when the hard work was done, he also taught us how to play hard and enjoy life to the fullest. Wally passed away peacefully in his home in Arden Hills, Minnesota on May 27th, 2024, at the age of 85. Wally was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by wife Donna, sons James (Sarah), Douglas (Lori), and Jason (Moira), daughter in-law (Deborah), and sisters Barbara (Maukstad) and Sandra (Firm). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by parents, Byron and Clara, and son David. Wally will come full circle returning home to Colfax to his final resting place in Evergreen Cemetery where his wishes will be honored with a private graveside service on June 22, 2024. All are welcome at a celebration of Wally’s life at 2:30 p.m, on June 22, 2024, at The Grapevine (121 Main St. Colfax, WI 54730). Please join us to honor, remember, and share memories of Wally.
