Porn Star and a liar
What do you get when you cross a porn star and a liar. Trouble for Donald Trump. Plus multiple it by 34 times and that is what the jury in Trump’s court case found him guilty of.
There has been a long discussion about how unfair this trial was and this case will probably not see an end for several years. But, how will this effect the November 5th election. We will have to wait until November sixth to find out.
Trump and his supporters have called out that our justice system has lost is balance and that it is now a political tool. It was reported on Monday morning on the “Today Show” that the Trump campaign had received over $70 million dollars in donations since the guilty verdict last Thursday.
Hunter Biden has also echoed those political words as he is in the midst of a criminal trial for lying on a gun application. So, I think that we will have plenty of entertainment over the next many months about these two events.
“Don’t interfere with anything in the Constitution that must be maintained for it is the only safeguard of our liberties. And not to Democrats alone do I make this appeal, but to all who love these great and true principals.”
Abraham Lincoln speech at Kalamazoo, Michigan on August 27, 1856.
It looks to me that our nation is so separated by political feelings and differences, is there a chance that we can ever come together in peace and harmony?
But, even back a couple of years before the Constitution was adopted, George Washington had reservations about unity and writing to James Madison, he wrote.
“We are either a united people, or we are not. If the former, let us, in all matters of general concern act as a nation, which have national objects to promote, and a national character to support – If we are not, let us no longer act farce by pretending to it.”
Changing the scope of this piece to one that unites us is Memorial Day. A couple of days before we gathered to pay tribute to our fallen comrades I heard the song; “The Battle Hyman of the Republic” sung by Judy Garland. I had never heard the song presented by Judy Garland and it was a treat to me to hear her sing it.
Julia Ward Howe wrote the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” during the Civil War and I wish I could print the entire song here. But one verse I will share, is the following.
“In the beauty of the Christ was born across the sea. With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me. As he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free.”
I asked my granddaughter if she had ever heard the rendition by Judy Garland. She answered: “Who is Judy Garland?” After I mentioned the “Wizard of Oz” she made the connection.
Thanks for reading! ~Carlton
