Dunn County Sheriff’s department provided program for July’s Merry Mixers meeting
The Colfax Merry Mixers Senior Citizens Group met at the Grapevine Senior Center on July 6th at 2:00 p.m. The program for the day was presented by Dunn County Deputy Brent Porter. He shared information on avoiding scams, etc., and it was very appropriate for these times we experience. His main message enforced that the public needs to be aware – not to give sensitive information, as well as many other possible situations.
When concluding the first part of his presentation he brought in his canine partner, Rip. Rip is a German Shepard with much training for police work. The process of obtaining a canine officer is very involved. The dog and the trainer do extensive training together. The cost is quite high for the Sheriff’s Department to have a trained dog. The group enjoyed the demonstration Deputy Porter provided with Rip as an alert and active participant. The Merry Mixers appreciated the Dunn County Sheriff’s Department and Officer Brent Porter and Rip for sharing this information and demonstration.
A presentation on Radon and It’s Effects will be presented at the August 3rd meeting of the Merry Mixers. The meeting start time is 2:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome
