Rachael L. O’Mera

Rachael L. O’Mera of Boyceville died on May 3, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born July 12, 1936, to John and Lola O’Mera in Knapp. 

Her early education years were spent in Knapp and Downing elementary schools. Her parents moved to Boyceville where she entered sixth grade and graduated from Boyceville High School in 1954. Rachael furthered her education at Bryan College, Dayton, Tennesseee, graduating in 1958 with a B.A. degree in Christian Education and a minor in Bible. 

Her education was used well for twenty-three years as a missionary in Alaska. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching the gospel to Aleut people on the Alaska Peninsula and also the Kenai Peninsula. She survived the 8.7 Alaska earthquake in 1964. Rachael returned to Wisconsin in 1984 where she was an independent home health care worker, and she also pastored Dallas Assembly of God and worked for a number of years for non-profit organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Douglas; older sister, Mary; brother-in-law, Ron Harper; and infant sister, Thelma Claire.

She is survived by three sisters: Edith (George) Radtke of Concord, CA; Nola (Darryl) Kovacik of Boyceville; Kathleen Harper of Strum, WI; brother-in-law, Jim Larson of Knapp; sister-in-law, Ruth O’Mera of Rosemount, MN; and sister-in-law Deanne O’Mera of Eau Claire, WI. Other survivors are nephews John Kovacik, Ryan (Adrienne) Radtke, and Greg (Shari) Lambert. Nieces include Jennifer Kovacik, Julie Kovacik, Amy Radtke, and Sandy O’Mera. Her great-nieces are Molly Radtke-Bovenzi, Jenna and Callie Lambert, and Kaitlyn O’Mera. Her great-nephew is Frankie Radtke-Bovenzi.

Her funeral will be Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, Glenwood City, WI. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Knapp. All are invited to a luncheon at the Knapp Hall following the service.

Anderson Funeral Home, Glenwood City is assisting the family with arrangements.
