Downing man dies in house fire

A rural Downing man was found dead by fire fighters in his rural Downing home. 

According to a press release from Sheriff Kevin Bygd of the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 8:19 a.m. the Dunn County Communication Center received a 911 call from an individual reporting a structure fire at a residence on 50th Street in the Dunn County Township of Tiffany.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, Glenwood City Fire Department, and Boyceville EMS were dispatched to the scene.

According to the news release that “while engaging the fire, firefighters located a 74 year old male who was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dunn County Medical Examiner.”

The Sheriff’s Department did not release the name of the deceased person.

The incident remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Glenwood City Fire Department according to the press release.

Also assisting at the scene was the Boyceville Fire Department and units and personal from the Woodville Station of the United Fire Department.
