It just keeps growing!

I don’t know when it started, but once the federal government passed a bill that offered some sort of government funding for a program, that opened the flood gates for more government spending to where the federal government spending is out of control and the 2023 discretionary spending is projected to rise to $1.736 trillion, with Republicans wanting to cut some $72 billion out of the total projected to be $6.375 trillion.

Can we afford more spending? Once the federal government started to give money away, it seemed very easy for them to give even more money away.

We all have to agree that federal funds have helped finance many projects throughout the country, including many local projects that have been able to come to completion. A couple of local, recently financed federal projects include the new municipal building in Glenwood City and the new main street project in Boyceville.

But, with all the money that the federal government has handed out on top of all the social programs that the government finances, our national debt is out of control. The bad part of this is that we as citizens have come to expect more and more financial help from the federal government.

“In a speech to the New York Stock Exchange on April 17, Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy addressed the forth coming debate in Congress on increasing the $31.4 trillion national debt ceiling, as new House Republican majority attempts to restore some semblance of fiscal responsibility to Congress”, according to a story in the Capitol Guardian.

That story also noted that Republicans plan to cut $72 billion out of the budget, but they stated, “As far as cuts go, this ($72 billion) does not even cover the increase of interest payments owed on the national debt, which on a net basis will increase to $665 billion this year and up to $842 billion in 2025.” But, the story also noted that “right now the White House is projecting the $31.4 trillion debt will hit $50 trillion this year and $100 trillion by 2036.”

I would ask what kind-of-mess are leaving to our kids and grand kids?

I have one item that alone is a budget buster for a the federal government and that is that President Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services has announced that they are seeking to redefine the term ‘lawful resident’ via regulation to make illegal aliens who came to the United States as children eligible for a government health insurance plan.

Biden said, on April 13th, “My Administration is announcing our plan to expand health coverage for Dreamers, the thousands of young people brought to the U.S. as kids. We’re not done fighting for a their pathway to citizenship, but we’re getting them the opportunities they deserve in the meantime.”

In the meantime, I take it to mean that before the November elections of 2024. Biden will attempt to get all these illegal kids citizenship and he hopes that they will vote for him. Because that is the only way he will get re-elected, if all these thousands a day foreigners will thank him by voting for Biden.

Biden will get elected and we will finance the health care and all the other expenses those illegal’s have placed on the tax paying public. Will your retirement account finance your share of the expense associate with them living with us?
