“Christmas in the Village” Dec. 3 on Main Street instead of Kyle’s Market

By LeAnn R. Ralph

COLFAX — There has been a change in plans for the Colfantastic Event “Christmas in the Village” on December 3.

According to information that was available to the Colfax Village Board in October and as was reported by the Colfax Messenger, the parade route was planned to follow the route for the Colfax Firefighters’ Ball, which begins at the Colfax High School parking lot and travels south on state Highway 40 then east toward the Colfax Fairgrounds on Railroad Avenue.

Instead, the Christmas in the Village parade will start at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Highway 40 at Synergy Cooperative and will travel north along Main Street toward the intersection of state Highway 170 and Highway 40, according to information provided to the Colfax Village Board at the November 14 meeting.

And instead of the craft vendors being set up in the Kyle’s Market parking lot, the craft vendors will be set up along Main Street.

The Love Light Tree also has had a change of location, so instead of being set up at Kyle’s Market or Pleasant Valley Properties, the tree will be set up in Tower Park next to the Colfax Municipal Building.

The events on Saturday, December 3, begin at 2 p.m.

Santa, Mrs. Claus and their reindeer will be in Tower Park from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for those who would like to take a photograph of Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and what are described as “real-life reindeer.”

The holiday market on Main Street also begins at 2 p.m. In addition to shopping at booths set up by local craft vendors, you will also be able to sip hot chocolate, decorate cookies and order something to eat from food trucks.

The Light Up Colfax Parade begins at 5 p.m. and is expected to feature lighted floats made by local community organizations and businesses.

The lighting ceremony for the Love Light Tree will take place immediately after the parade.

For many years, the Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center has had a Love Light tree, and the Love Light Tree in Tower Park will be a collaboration between Colfantastic Events and the Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Anyone wishing to purchase love lights in memory or in honor of friends or loved ones or who would like to be part of the holiday parade or the vendors’ market can send an e-mail message to colfantastic.events@gmail.com or send a message through the Colfantastic Events Facebook page.
