Two seriously injured when truck strikes ATV

TWO PEOPLE were seriously injured when an ATV pulling a trailer was struck from behind by a pick-up truck last Thursday afternoon, August 5 on County Road E near 290th Street in the Town of Springfield. John and Pamela Jarvis of Glenwood City sustained life-threatening injuries when the ATV they were on was hit by a Ram pick-up truck driven by Jessica Hansen of Menomonie. The Jarvises were transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN for treatment of their injuries.

TOWN OF SPRINGFIELD —Two people received life-threatening injuries when a pick-up truck struck their ATV from behind last Thursday afternoon in the St. Croix County Township of Springfield.
The operator of the ATV, a 1992 Kawasaki Bayou 4-wheeler, John Jarvis, 57, and his passenger Pamela Jarvis, 58, both of Glenwood City, received serious injuries and had to be transported to Regions Medical Center in St. Paul, MN.
John Jarvis was airlifted from the scene to Regions by a Lifelink helicopter while Pamela Jarvis was transported via ground ambulance by Baldwin EMS to the same facility.
According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office, which is heading up the investigation of the accident and conducting a reconstruction of events, at approximately 4:28 p.m. on Thursday, August 5th, a 2020 Ram pick-up truck being operated by Jessica Hansen, 39 of Menomonie, was traveling east on County Road E near 290th Street when she struck the back end of a homemade utility trailer that was being pulled by the Jarvis’ ATV causing the crash.
As of Monday, August 9, the Jarvises remained hospitalized according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office said that no citations have yet been issued but may be pending once the investigation is completed.
Assisting at the scene were the Wisconsin DNR, St. Croix County Highway Department, Glenwood City Fire and EMS, and Baldwin EMS.
