Pay it forward!
Have you ever been the receiver of a good deed and then passed it on to another person. If you did you “Paid it forward”.
According to Wikipedia, “Pay it forward is an expression for describing the beneficiary of a good deed repaying the kindness to others instead of to the original benefactor. The concept is old, but the particular phrase may have been coined by Lily Hardy Hammond in her 1916 book in the Garden of Delight.”
I have been the recipient a number of times of a good deed including being helped with a flat tire, receiving a cup of coffee or just a pleasant greeting.
Those who know me know that I drive a bright red Jeep Wrangler and last week one day I was in Menomonie and the Jeep was in a parking lot and when I returned to the Jeep I found a little pink duck with a card attached hanging from the drivers door handle.
The card noted, “Love Your Duckin’ Jeep! You have been Ducked. Post a Pic on FB or IG #duckduckjeep. Life’s an adventure, enjoy the Ride! And don’t forget to check Your Headlights! – From the Great Pumpkin.” The card had the ribbon for Breast Cancer Awareness, attached. Jodi and Shannon, Menomonie, WI signed the card on the back. So, as I do not post on any social site, I noted it in this column.
So, I will asked that everyone make an attempt to “Pay It Forward” in your life and if all take this notion to heart, we will have a better place for us all to live and may be we can infect all others to help someone else and to all those that would be involved in riot’s, looting, burning to do a good turn for others and this country would be a better place to live.
And, I may forward the notion to the members of congress to “Pay it Forward” and ask them to take a vacation, unpaid of course, until January of 2023 as we do not need anymore give-a-way programs. We have sufficient, rules, regulations and taxes that will carry us into 2023 and when they come back to have them “Pay it Forward” in their minds and that will remove all the bitterness that is now in play in Washington D.C. and it will be a better life for us all. That vacation is what ‘”We the People” need, and it may keep the current politicians from tearing this country apart.
Abraham Lincoln once said: “I do not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.”
Abraham Lincoln’s involvement in abolishing slavery, led to the Lincoln Memorial becoming an important symbol for race relations. There are 87 steps from the Reflecting Pool to Lincoln’s statue in the monument. The number 87 represent‘s “four score and 7” as Abraham Lincoln spoke in his famous Gettysburg Address.
