COLFAX — It’s a tractor show.
No, wait — it’s a “Made in Colfax” show — except it will also feature toy vendors.
What is it?
The Colfax FFA and Colfax FFA Alumni’s first annual Tractor Fest at the Colfax Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 14.
“The Colfax FFA Alumni wanted to offer another event for later in the summer and wanted to develop Tractor Fest so area individuals could bring their tractors for the day and enjoy camaraderie,” said Heather Rothbauer-Wanish, a member of the Colfax FFA Alumni and who also has been coordinating the donated items for the raffle.
The Colfax FFA Alumni has been holding the Farm Toy Show at Colfax High School the last weekend in February for more than 30 years
“In addition, we wanted to have an entire day that is focused on families and fun. Events that day will include ‘Made in Colfax’ items, a raffle, a coloring contest for kids, FFA concessions stand, tractor trivia and the band, The Thrillbillies, featuring Colfax native Bronson Bergeson,” Rothbauer-Wanish said.
“The Made in Colfax” part of the event will feature local crafters and artisans who make a variety of items. We have a lot of talent in the area and wanted to put the focus on our community members,” she said.
Items at Made in Colfax will include baked goods, hand-sewn items, maple syrup, fire pokers, metal art and more, Rothbauer-Wanish said.
The raffle will feature more than 30 items from local businesses, including a Yeti cooler, a gift certificate for a sailboat ride on Lake Pepin, a pedal tractor, gift certificates to Colfax Animal Hospital and $100 in cash from Colfax Chevrolet, she said.
The pedal tractor was donated by the Chippewa County Rural Heritage Club, Rothbauer-Wanish noted.
The money raised during Tractor Fest will go to the Colfax FFA and the Colfax FFA Alumni groups for future scholarships, trips and other events that further agriculture within the community, she said.
Tractor Fest starts at 9 a.m. at the Colfax Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 14.
All tractors are welcome — restored antiques, vintage unrestored or straight out of the farm field — and the more, the merrier.
The FFA food stand will open at 10 a.m.
Tractor Trivia will start at 6 p.m. and will be played with teams of four. Prizes will be awarded.
Music by The Thrillbillies begins at 8 p.m.
The Colfax Village Board approved a temporary Class “B” / “Class B” retailers license (picnic beer license) for the Colfax FFA Alumni for Tractor Fest at the Colfax Village Board’s July 26 meeting.
The village board also approved waiving the fee for the use of the fairgrounds and the buildings.
