US12 and WIS128 intersection
WILSON — According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation the intersection of U. S. Highway 12 and State Highway 128 will be closed for a month to allow for highway improvements including installing four way stop signage.
The DOT said that this improvement will address crashes at this intersection and includes:
Realigning he north leg of 128 of the intersection. Changing the vertical geometrics on 12 ad 128 approaches to create better visibility for motorists and adding raised islands between right-turn and through-travel lanes on 12 and replacing the island on 128.
Also converting the intersection to an all-way stop, with all motorists traveling east and west on 12 and north and south on 128 will have to stop at the crossing, and adding flashing red stop beacons on 12.
During the construction the intersection will be closed and Highway 12 traffic will be detoured over on I-94 using U.S. 63 to the west and WIS 25 to the east. While traffic on 128 will be detoured around the intersection on WIS 79 using WIS 170 to the north and I-94 to the south.
According to the DOT, the project is scheduled to start on May 31 with the completion date of July 2nd.
