Gov. Evers, we need an investigation
I am addressing this column to our Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers to inform him that we have poop on our face.
The November election results in this state and five other states have been questioned, and we as citizens of this great state need to know that the vote count was accurate and those ballots casted were legitimate.
Eleven United States senators and senators elect led by Texas Senator Ted Cruz said they will reject electors from six states, including Wisconsin, won by Joe Biden. Those senators say there were allegations of voter fraud in those states and they are calling for an emergency ten-day audit of the election results.
I, too, have questioned the results of our state’s election. When I went to bed about midnight election night, Trump was ahead by a good margin four hours after the close of the polls. But when I turned on the TV in the morning, he was trailing and eventually lost by 20,682 votes. Where did all those votes for Biden come from is my question? The record indicates that only 13 of the states 72 counties were won by Biden and his win was the result of the large Democratic vote in Dane and Milwaukee counties. In Dane county, where the state capital is located and is the home of the University of Wisconsin, Biden collected over 75 percent of the vote, while in Milwaukee County, Biden got just under 70 percent of the vote.
Of the 5.8 million people estimated to be living in Wisconsin, 3.2 million voted for president.
Those eleven United States senators contend that they are not trying to reverse the election results, but rather give voice to those who don’t believe it was conducted fairly.
But, here is what might happen, those six states election vote is disqualified and then Biden will not have the 270 electoral votes need to be president. The House will then vote, but each state get only one vote and with Wisconsin has more Republican Representatives than Democrats, Trump will get the Wisconsin vote.
I am one that believes that some sort of shanghaiing took place on election night and that needs to be investigated by the state.
An investigation would put an end to all the negative feelings about the results of the November election and wipe the stain off our faces and put us on a path that will make all future election results beyond question.
Congress is meeting this week in joint session to certify the results of the election, but if those six states’ Electors’ votes are disqualified that could change who becomes president, and the vote may go to the House of Representatives for them to decide who will be president. It sure will be an interesting week in Washington D. C.
But one thing for sure in my mind is that we need to address and fix our presidential election system. First, Congress must see that all rules for the presidential and congressional election are the same in all fifty states.
They also need to address this voting before Election Day. I know we need an avenue to get ballots to those who can’t make it to the polling place. But, sending hundreds of thousands of extra ballots to those who have not requested them is just asking for trouble, and that needs to be corrected. It has been reported that over three million people have voted early in the special senatorial election in Georgia and it is hard for me to believe that many could not get to the polls on Tuesday. We need to make changes and make sure that the person marking the ballot has identified himself or herself properly.
