GLENWOOD CITY — With everyone staying home more these days, perhaps you didn’t realize that Glenwood City has four new businesses on Oak Street – all located at 127 E. Oak.
Jamey Tuttle, a 2001 Glenwood City High School graduate, purchased the building that previously held Lice Avengers and before that the local pharmacy.
Tuttle owns and operates a home health company called Serenity Care Agency, LLC.
“As the company has grown in the past two years, I decided I wanted an actual location for staff to be able to come,” stated Tuttle. “So, in August I started Serenity Enterprises, LLC that purchased our current location.”
Tuttle wanted something other than home health to help the community and to grow. So when she purchased the building, she purchased it with the intent to have services and products that people can enjoy.
Currently, there are three others who are renting space from Tuttle that are operating their own businesses. They are Danielle Hovde Hair Studio, Fancy’s Salon and 57 Hills Salon and Boutique. In addition, Serenity Enterprises also sells new wholesale clothing for women.
Danielle Hovde Hair Studio
Danielle Hovde lives in Baldwin. She is married and has a seven-month-old son. Hovde graduated from CVTC in Eau Claire in 2009 for cosmetology. She’s a licensed Wisconsin cosmetologist and is certified in tape-in hair extensions. She has taken numerous continuing education classes over the years.
“I love taking online classes to keep up to date with the newest techniques and what’s in for styles,” said Hovde.
She has worked in Hudson and River Falls over the years in salons and stepped back a few years ago to do something different. She had been working at the Phoenix Bar & Grill in Baldwin but now seemed to be the perfect time for her to get back into the salon full time.
Her favorite services to offer are color services and extensions. But she also offers men’s, women’s, and kids’ haircuts, hair treatments, nail services, and special occasion make up.
“It’s the best feeling ever making someone feel so good about themselves! I’m so excited to be a part of this community and want to welcome you to stop in to check out what all of us have to offer!” enthused Hovde.
Danielle Hovde Hair Studio’s hours are Monday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Thursday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., however hours may vary. If you would like to make an appointment with Danielle her number in 612-270-0622.
Fancy’s Salon and Spa
Fancy’s is owned by Carrie Steger. She and her husband have three children and live in Glenwood City. Steger is originally from Mayville, WI. They relocated here about eight years ago. Her salon, Fancys Salon and Spa, was in Baldwin but she felt it was time to make a statement here in Glenwood City.
Steger is a certified lash artist and cosmetologist. She has been doing lashes for seven years and she is always finding new education and trainings to keep up on the newest and best techniques out there. She loves creating beautiful lash sets using a custom technique that is safe for your natural lash health and your lifestyle. She is also certified in Skin Deep Pharmaceutical, offering custom chemical facials treating acne, anti-aging, hyperpigmentation, and dehydration. Dermaplaning and microneedling are some advanced services that are also available.
At Fancy’s, you can book services for manicures, gel polish, dip method, and spa pedicures.
“I am so happy to be a part of this community and welcome you to stop in. I would love to meet you,” remarked Steger.
Fancy’s Salon is open Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Wednesday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Fancy’s number is 715-688-6700.
57 Hills Salon and Boutique
Amanda Schone is the owner of 57 Hills Salon & Boutique. She lives in Glenwood City with her husband and two daughters, 12 and 7. It has always been her dream to be a cosmetologist since she graduated high school in 2002. However, she was convinced by her guidance counselor to not follow that dream back then.
Three years ago she decided to chase her dream and graduated from The Salon Professional Academy in Maplewood, MN. After graduation she wasn’t sure where she wanted to be working, salon-wise and never found the perfect fit until now.
Schone offers men, women, and kids’ haircuts, facial waxing, hair color and perms with FREE consultation prior to appointment; and special occasion styles. In the near future, she would like to offer boutique items such as clothing, jewelry, decor, etc.
“I am excited to be given this opportunity here in my community,” noted Schone.
57 Hills Salon is by appointment with hours Monday-Tuesday 6-8pm and Wednesdays 9am-8pm. Schone can be reached at 715-781-8485.
Serenity Care Agency
Serenity Care Agency is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday thru Friday. If you are in need of home health care they can be reached at 715-308-3800. If anyone is wanting an opportunity to possibly join them in the building they can contact Serenity Enterprises at 715-619-6072. Look for their logos on the store’s windows as you are walking downtown and feel free to stop in.
