Planeload of cash for Iran-old news

If you can remember just over four years ago the United States sent more than a billon dollars to Iran, and at that time, The Wall Street Journal, published a report about sending that money to Iran. I would like to reprint just a small recount from that article.

“The Obama administration followed up a planeload of $400 million in cash sent to Iran in January with two more such shipments in the next 19 days, totaling another $1.3 billion.

“The cash payments, made in Swiss francs, euros and other currencies, settled a decades-old dispute over a failed arms deal dating back to 1979. U.S. officials have acknowledged the payment of the first $400 million coincided with Iran’s release of American prisoners and was used as leverage to ensure they were flown out of Tehran’s Mehrabad on the morning of January 17.”

Now, why would I bring this four-year-old news up at this time?  Because, news reports from last week indicated that our government’s official view on Iran will change back to what it was during the Obama administration and the sanctions against Iran imposed by the Trump administration will be removed. Apparently Biden does not know that Iran hates us and Iran’s policy is “Death of America.”

And to boost that feeling, President-elect Joe Biden has chosen a career government official to be the Secretary of State in his new administration.

He is 58-year-old Antony Blinken who back in 2016 was the Deputy Secretary of State in the Obama administration and before that was a Deputy National Security adviser under Obama. He speaks fluent French.

But, what I wonder is what input he might have had with sending all that cash to Iran more than four years ago? I would at this time like to inform Mr. Blinken that you can’t buy friendship, so no more planeloads of cash.

I should make everyone aware of the order of succession for the president. Who will be our leader if something happens to Joe Biden? Of course it is the vice president, Kamala Harris. But after that the order goes to the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, then to the President Pro Tempore of the senate and then to the Secretary of State, which, if Biden can get him through senate conformation, Blinken will be fourth in line to get behind the president’s desk in the Oval Office.

Speaking of appointments, the president-elect has made choices for many of his advisors. Some of them come from news desks of national news originations of which President Trump would call “Fake News.”

Those appointments are people that spent the last four years bashing President Trump. A couple of other appointments are holdover’s from the Obama administration.

What we can look forward to is that the bashing of Trump will continue and he will get the blame for anything that goes wrong and Biden will take the credit for any good thing that happens.

So, if you voted for Biden thinking that things might change in your favor, it looks like to me it will be back as it was four and more years ago and I know that I along with the rest of you good folks will be paying more income taxes. Biden promised to raise taxes on only the people with high incomes. But he will roll back the Trump tax plan and that will cost all us hard working folks more in federal income taxes.
