Three perish in Dunn County house fire

Three people are dead including a child following a house fire in the Town of Spring Brook in Dunn County late Friday evening, July 10.
Those that perished in the flames and smoke were Merrill Tande, age 76, Christopher Rouse age 49 and a 6-year-old female, whose identity has not been revealed. All three victims were from rural Menomonie.
Two adult females were able to escape the fire with only minor injuries.
According to a release provided by Dunn County Sheriff Kevin Bygd, the Dunn County 911 Center received the call of a house on fire in the 6800 block of 270th Ave. in Spring Brook Township, Dunn County at 10:01 p.m. on Friday, July 10.
Menomonie Fire and Rescue and the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene. Numerous other fire services were called to the scene as well.
There were five occupants inside the house at the time the fire started according to the report. The two adult females were able to make it out of the house and were treated for only minor injuries and released on scene. Tande, Rouse and the young child, who all perished in the fire, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Based on the initial investigation, the fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature but remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal, Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office.
