A first place finish at the recently held Exit 88 pony pull in Osseo was very satisfying to former Hixton resident, Travis Soppa, now of Boyceville. It certainly hasn’t been the first time he has received that honor.
Travis, who had lived in Hixton most of his life, started pulling ponies when he was around 7 years old, with his dad, Lloyd, who was well known in the pulling circles. Now Travis and his entire family are making pony pulling a family affair. Says his wife, Wendy Bartz Soppa “The name of our farm is BS Connection and we do enjoy traveling all over the place for competitions. Our horses’ names are Tator and Bill.”
Travis has won numerous awards over the years, including horsemanship. He is currently the President of the Wisconsin Pony Pullers Association and Wendy is the Secretary. Their children Alex Crivits, Chelsie Soppa-Greuel, Jordan Gollner and Maggie Soppa all help around the farm and join them at competitions, continuing the long time family tradition.
