Colfax woman killed in Washburn County crash

SPOONER — A 20-year-old woman from Colfax died in a one vehicle rollover crash in Washburn County near Spooner on Friday, May 29.

The deceased, Jade Riley Lansing, was a backseat passenger in a 2004 Jeep Liberty driven by Axel Michael Seltrecht, 18, of Colfax. Kaya Lee Isker, 18, of Houlton, was a front seat passenger.

According to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol Northwest Region issued May 30, at around 12:45 p.m. Friday, the State Patrol and the Washburn County Sheriff’s Department responded to a one vehicle rollover crash on U.S. Highway 53 near milepost 154 southbound.

The vehicle had lost control, entered the ditch and rolled several times, according to the initial investigation.

Lansing was ejected from the Jeep Liberty during the crash and received fatal injuries.

Seltrecht and Isker were transported to Spooner Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

The news release indicates enforcement action concerning Seltrecht and Isker was pending investigation and had not yet been determined.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
