The Best is Yet to Come!
“America is the place where anything can happen. America is the place where anyone can rise. And here, on this land, on this soil, on this continent, the most incredible dreams come true.
“This nation is our canvas, and this country is our masterpiece. We look at tomorrow and see unlimited frontiers just waiting to be explored. Our brightest discoveries are not yet known. Our most thrilling stories are not yet told. Our grandest journeys are not yet made. The American Age, the American Epic, the American adventure has only just begun.
“Our spirit is still young, the sun is still rising, God’s grace is still shining, and my fellow Americans, the best is yet to come.”
– President Donald Trump’s State of the Union, February 4, 2020.
And, then along came the Coronavirus and pushed us a couple of steps backwards. We will survive this and move forward with greater achievements than ever before.
If Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden both had got on board with the president when this pandemic first was known, we all would be better off.
The former Vice President now says he supports travel bans to contain the Chinese Coronavirus after all, after he had previously called the China travel ban issued by President Trump in late January as “reactionary,” “hysterical,” “xenophobic,” and “counterproductive.”
Robert Romano, vice president of public policy for Americans for Limited Government put it this way. “Biden’s deputy campaign manger Kate Bedingfield told CNN on April 3 that Science supported this ban, therefore he (Biden) did too. Was that before or after looking at a poll that said Trump would do a better job dealing with this crisis than Biden? Asking for the potentially hundreds of thousands of American lives President Trump saved by acting decisively in the early days of this pandemic at a time Biden was hysterically complaining about what he called ‘reactionary’ travel restrictions.”
And, then of course, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was no better and apparently she did not even offer Trump any help, only to make a comment that “Americans died while Trump fiddled.” She apparently remembers the familiar story of Roman Emperor Nero fiddling while Rome burned in 64 C.E. Was she there?
But of course, the violin was not invented until the sixteen century in Italy, so Nero did not fiddle in 64 C.E.
Now with Bernie Sanders out of the presidential race, it appears that Biden has a freeway to the nomination of the Democratic Party. But, I would not be surprised that at the convention the delegates will disregard the voter’s choice and find someone else to carry their banner into the November election. Because I think the party has several people that are a better candidate than Biden.
But this pandemic has shut down many businesses and put people out of work. Estimates are as high as 17 million workers have lost their jobs over this and with no end in sight, we need to see that these workers are put back to work.
Part of the President’s and Congress’ $2.2 trillion relief package are provisions for small businesses to keep people on the job with a forgivable loan called “Paycheck Protection Program.” It’s for firms with less than 500 employees. I urge every small business owner that has employees and has seen a drop in sales to apply for it. I did.
