The veterans of Russell Toycen American Legion Post 131 of Colfax held a military funeral for Michael “Mike” Nelson at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery on March 5, 2020.

Legionnaires on the firing squad were Kathy Walters, Bill Yingst, Tom Dunbar, Tarry Turner, Don Braaten, “Happy” Silva and Jon Scott.

Legionnaires in the Color Guard were Gust Fehr, Mark Zillmer and Alan Johnson.

The flag was presented to Doug Nelson (Mike’s son) by Post Commander Chris Larson.
