BOYCEVILLE — The Boyceville Village Board met in a special meeting on Monday, March 2, to discuss the proposal update with Dollar General in regards to utilities and extensions across the property.
Village president Gib Kruger asked Erik Evenson, senior engineer with MSA Professional Services, if there was a rough estimate on what the cost would be to the village and Dollar General to extend the water and sewer lines along the eastern boundary of Dollar General and from the southern boundary of the Moore-Girard property.
“The prices of materials have gone up,” Evenson explained. “We took a closer look and the initial estimate was high, but $23,000 to $25,000 is realistic.”
A fire hydrant along with a manhole, which is required by the Department of Natural Resources, would cost $7,500. This is not included with the assessed cost, as it would be the Village’s responsibility to pay.
Board members Lukas Montgomery and Jonathan Farrell agreed that a 50-50 split of the estimate would be a fair deal for Boyceville.
Kruger also added that in the proposal he would prefer it to say half of the cost instead of a dollar amount in case the estimate exceeded $25,000.
According to the changes made to the proposal, Dollar General will reimburse the actual costs incurred for the sewer and water extension to serve the DGI property not to exceed $67,500. DGI will also be responsible for the cost to extend the sewer and water 163 feet to the Moore-Girard property in compliance with Village policy.
Board member Trudie Chernak also asked that the road leading to the store be named after Herb Dow, a Boyceville village board member who passed away recently, to which Kruger said he would mention it to DGI.
If the Village and Dollar General come to an agreement the store would be located across from Tiffany Creek Elementary on STH 79.
