Fire destroys Town of Glenwood House

290th Street House Fire photo

FIRE DESTROYED THIS HOUSE At 1661 290th Street in Glenwood Township Thursday afternoon, February 13th.  All members of the house escaped the home when they noticed fire in the kitchen ceiling. The Beverly Frentz Vener family occupied the home. The family called the St. Croix County Dispatch Center and reported a fire in the kitchen ceiling, but by the time Glenwood City firefighters arrived the entire home was in flames. A near by shed also caught fire, but that fire was extinguished by firefighters and the barn on the property was not damaged. Thirteen fire departments responded to the scene with equipment and personnel including Boyceville, United Fire, Clear Lake, Deer Park, Spring Valley, St. Joseph, Colfax, Prairie Farm, New Richmond, and Elmwood. Beverly is the head cook at Park View Community campus in Woodville. She, her husband, son and granddaughter lost their home to the fire and the employees have set up a fundraiser for the family and are asking for donations. Their goal is to raise $50,000 and as of Monday afternoon the employees have raised $1,260.
