GLENWOOD CITY — At 4:15 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, November 7, an accident occurred at the intersection of 1st St./STH 170 and E. Oak Street.
Sarah Standaert, Glenwood City, was headed westbound on Oak Street when Leanna Hakkila, Menomonie, was eastbound on Oak Street and was turning left on to 1st Street. Hakkila did not yield the right of way to Standaert.
Standaert’s Chevrolet Captiva struck the passenger side of Hakkila’s Nissan Altima, which caused the Altima to spin and come to a rest next to the curb by the Hair Depot.
Four-year-old Grayson Gramberg and one-year-old Kensley Hikkila were seated in the back of the vehicle and were uninjured even with the deployment of the airbag on Gramberg’s side.
Leanna Hakkila was the only one transported to Western Wisconsin Health, New Richmond, with a possible injury.
All parties involved were wearing their seat belts or in a child restraint seat and both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage.
Road conditions, weather, or alcohol were not factors in the incident.
