Glenwood City man found dead in submerged vehicle

NEW RICHMOND — One adult male was found deceased inside of a vehicle that was partially submerged in Hatfield Lake.
According to a press release from the New Richmond Police Department, it stated that the department had received notification at 9:29 a.m. Monday, October 7, that a vehicle was seen in Hatfield Lake partially submerged.
The lake is located just off State Highway 65, north of Hatfield Park near the New Richmond airport.
Upon arrival police, fire and EMS personnel located one adult male that was deceased in the vehicle.
The man was later identified as Kevin A. Bonte, 51, of Glenwood City, Wisconsin.
According to a post by Rivertowns.net, New Richmond Police Chief Craig Yehlik stated; “We don’t have a reason for why the vehicle left the road, but we don’t suspect any foul play at this time.”
It appears that the vehicle was operating northbound and left the roadway.
The police department is asking the members of the public that may have information about the event to contact them at 715 246-6667. The Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
Responding agencies to the scene were the New Richmond Police Department, New Richmond Fire, New Richmond EMS, St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department, St. Croix County Medical Examiner’s Office and the St. Croix County/Washington County Dive Team.
