BOYCEVILLE — The Boyceville Board of Education met on Wednesday, July 17, to discuss certain changes and ideas surrounding the Academic and Career planning services for the 2019-20 school year.
According to middle/high school principal Tyler Moy there was only one line changed in the proposal terminology as well as several ideas that have been a possibility since the initial adoption of the services three years ago.
A few of the ideas included making Personal Finance a required course during the junior or senior year of high school, a financial literacy checklist of activities all high school students would have to complete before graduation and infusing the Financial Literacy curriculum into the advisement period to complete necessary requirements.
Special Education director Bonnie Barker also mentioned that on the Special Education transition form there is a question that asks if the ACP plan was utilized during high school.
The Boyceville School District wrapped up their audit a day ahead of schedule, said Superintendent Nick Kaiser, and the district should know the outcome by the first of December.
“Information was ready and easily available for the auditors,” Kaiser explained. “There also wasn’t a lot of questions which helped wrap things up quickly.”
Kaiser also made the board aware he had met with Colfax and Elk Mound superintendents to review the safety plans and to look over communication of information regarding safety issues.
“There are templates you can use,” Kaiser stated. “They are there for you to customize and adopt for each school.”
During the meeting the Board of Education:
Approved the 2019-20 Wisconsin Model Academic Standards.
Approved the 2018-19 Restraint & Seclusion Report.
The Boyceville Board of Education will meet again on Wednesday, August 14, at 6:00 p.m.
