Do you really have freedom of speech?
We take it for granted that we can speak on any subject even if we know nothing about it. I sometimes spout off about a matter that I know little about. But then, so do many other people and I would suggest that if you are reading this, you probably have a voiced your opinion about a subject, trying to give your thoughts on the discussion that is at hand.
I watch the Fox News channel and the Rachel Maddow show on MSNBC and I can tell you there is no balance to what Maddow has to offer. Of course her show is just one big editorial and to me she comes across as one who hates anything or person that does not agree with her.
But what I want to get to is that some of the hosts of shows on Fox have come under fire because of their political beliefs and because they do not fall in behind the leftists thinking or political agenda.
The leftists have for some time attempted to silence the voices of the people that they feel have another point of view and do not follow the liberal Democratic-Socialist idea. They attempt to get them removed from the air in several ways; the most aggressive is to boycott the show’s advertising sponsors.
Now if I called up one of the sponsors of the Maddow show and told them that I was not going to buy their product unless they stopped supporting that show with their ads, that would be a sin in my way of thinking.
But I am not going to do that because I feel that she has the right to speak her mind and I have the right to speak mine and the people on Fox have the same right, and we all have that right. “Live and let Live.” If I don’t like what flows out of Rachel Maddow mouth, I don’t have to watch.
Political contests depend on money. Can you remember how many candidates ran for the Republican nomination for president in 2016? We remember only those that spent large amount of money and gained national news coverage.
And it is money that drives the campaign. We all watched as a large number of Democratic candidates announced that they are running for president in 2020. Former Vice President, Joe Biden raised $6.3 million dollars after he announced he wants to remake America so it’s not great again. Other Democratic candidates that raised millions are Bernie Sanders at $5.9; Beto O’Rourke at $6.1; Kamala Harris with only $1.5 million.
But within 24 hours of declaring that he would run for a second term, Donald Trump raised almost $25 million dollars.
I would have to tell all my liberal friends to call upon the Democratic members of Congress, especially Representative Ron Kind, to stop this time consuming effort on impeachment and get on with the country’s business and let the voters decided if Trump should serve another term.
Thanks for reading! ~Carlton
