BOYCEVILLE — The Boyceville Board of Education was updated on May 15 about the Tiffany Creek stream project and where it sits time wise.
Superintendent Kevin Sipple let the Board know that the project was progressing on time and it looked to have DNR back on site by late June.
The project has been idle in recent weeks, because the DNR and the school have had to wait for the weather to calm and snow or rain to subside before work could continue.
The DNR hired a tree service to remove all rotting trees and has required Xcel Energy to come and trim up the trees surrounding their power lines before work could continue as well.
The trees have been removed now, according to Sipple, and the public has until the end of May to take any of the firewood for themselves.
Sipple explained that with fingers crossed the ground will take only 10 days to dry out so that the rock may be brought in.
“Hopefully by Pickle Fest things may be almost complete to fully finished,” Sipple stated.
Middle/High school principal Tyler Moy explained to the Board of Education that during the upcoming 2019-20 school year there will be staff supervision in the commons area from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. daily.
This will allow students who are waiting for practices to begin or are having difficulties in class to attend and receive extra support in areas they are having problems with.
Nick Kaiser, Tiffany Creek Elementary principal, updated the Board that all testing has been completed in the elementary school and there were no electronic glitches in the wireless systems that were used via chromebooks.
During the meeting the Board of Education:
Accepted the resignation of Karlene Berry as National Honor Society Advisor.
Approved hiring Hanna Downer-Carlson as an Elementary Special Education teacher.
Approved awarding diplomas to the Class of 2019.
Approved the 2019-20 open enrollment applications.
Approved the membership renewal to the WIAA for the 2019-20 school year.
Accepted a grant in the amount of $946 from the Ann Marie Grant for admission to the Great Lakes Aquarium and 3D printer parts.
Approved board meeting dates for 2019-20.
The Boyceville Board of Education will meet again on June 19 with the meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Tiffany Creek Elementary in the library.
