Glenwood City firefighters used the Jaws of Life to force open the door of this 2008 Kia, to allow emergency personal to remove the driver. The driver, Jonathan T. Gossler, 34, of Mondovi, was involved in a two-vehicle accident at 4:55 p.m., Wednesday, May 1st at the intersection of Highways 128 and 64 in Forest Township. According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s office, Gossler was traveling north on 128 and failed to stop at the stop sign and struck an east bound 2008 Ford Focus driven by Virginia Torres Alardin, 58, of Glenwood City.
The Gossler vehicle came to rest in the middle of highway 64 blocking both lanes of travel and the force of the crash sent the Alardin vehicle into the north ditch, just east of County Road P.
Alardin was transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital in the Twin Cities and Gossler was taken by ambulance to Westfield’s Hospital in New Richmond. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
Both drivers were cited with Gossler for failure to yield and Alardin for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
Assisting the St. Croix County Sheriff Department at the scene were Glenwood City Fire and Ambulance Department, Glenwood City Police, Clear Lake Ambulance and the Baldwin Medic.
This is the second two-vehicle accident at this intersection in the past seven weeks. The other occurred on March 13th where a northbound vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign and struck a westbound pickup traveling on highway 64.
