Sioux Creek Golf Course in Chetek, WI was recently purchased by Brad and Marlo Stevens and Bruce Halvorson. Sioux Creek was designed and built by Lee Johnson and Rita Hong in 1993 and is thought of as one of Northwestern Wisconsin’s best maintained courses.
Halvorson has been the Manager of Glen Hills Golf Club for the previous 10 seasons. Prior to that he was co-owner of Halvorson Electric in Ridgeland and Brewsters Bar in Boyceville. “I’ve been golfing Sioux Creek since the 90’s and have always loved the beauty and layout of this course. When we found out Lee and Rita were ready to step down, we saw this as a great opportunity,” Halvorson said. “We want to make some improvements to the clubhouse, but we feel we’d be winning if we only maintain the level of quality Lee brought to the golf course.”
Brad and Marlo Stevens are residents of Boyceville and have two daughters, Jayden, 13 years old, and Brylee, 10 years old. “Our family enjoys the outdoors and we’ve always had a lot of fun golfing together,” said Marlo Stevens. “We’re excited to approach this as a family.”
Brad Stevens said plans for the clubhouse include increasing the food offerings with homemade pizzas, cheese curds, chicken strips and more. They will continue to offer a full bar with tap beer. “We’re really hoping to create a comfortable place to have a beverage and some food after your round or just come out and meet with some friends,” said Stevens.
The course will open for the 2019 season as soon as the weather allows.
