Virgil C. Larson, age 87, of Wilson passed away Monday, February 18th, 2019. Virgil was born on October 17, 1931 to Louis Larson and Marion (Pickard) (Larson) Cosgrove. He graduated from Glenwood City High School before becoming a Marine where he proudly served for 3 years in the Korean War. He married Sylvia Hunter and raised their three children together, their marriage would later dissolve but they remained close friends. Virgil worked for Fuller Brush Company for most of his life but was also a carpenter and for a time he and his family had a hobby farm of beef cattle.
He was a true outdoorsman and loved being outside. Hunting and fishing were his favorite hobbies and enjoyed snowmobiling in his younger years. After retiring he became an avid pool player. More than anything Virgil loved his family and spending time with all his children and grandchildren brought him so much joy.
Virgil will remain in the hearts of his children, Theresa Woerpel, John (Eliza) Larson, and James Larson; grandchildren, Jessica (Abraham) Baca, Jennifer Lujan, Amy Sams, Dawn Schillinger, Laurie Green, and Lynn Larson; 12 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert; and former wife, Sylvia Larson.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Virgil’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin, WI. A gathering of family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
