A good campaign slogan! “Change”
How many times has a presidential candidate, or for the matter, a candidate for governor, campaigned using the slogan with the word “change” in it?
Obama’s “Change, we can believe in” and the change we got, but was it something that we really wanted?
As the years pass in my life, I feel that the way things are, is just fine. It’s like an old pair of shoes, they fit just right and I am comfortable with the old pair and don’t want to break-in a new pair.
Well, things are heating up in Washington with President Trump declaring an emergency to get the wall built, but Mexico is not going to pay for it. I am sure that before the political dust settles all hell will break loose and nothing constructive will get done in the nation’s capitol.
I am with the president on the wall, a day hardly goes by without a news program telling the story of someone’s son or daughter being killed or injured by an illegal immigrant. It’s too bad that those Democratic lawmakers that supported a wall a few years back now call it immoral.
I anticipated that our new Wisconsin Governor would ask for Marijuana to be legalized in our great state, and that is just what he is suggesting. Is that what we really need, more pot heads on the road?
I had a dream the other night about a change. The dream had the northern half of the state of Wisconsin secceeding from the union. All lands north of highway 29 would then become the nation of “Superior.” An independent nation where political parties are outlawed and term limits are imposed upon elected officials and the government is one that helps you help yourself. Where hard work is the pathway to independent living and a person’s wealth is not taxed into a government program. There is no income tax on the first quarter of a million dollars of income. In Fact, there will be no income tax at all. A ten percent sales tax should provide the needed funds for the government, because the lawmakers will be volunteers.
The country of “Superior” should be all right with people emigrating from the United States to “Superior” because of the tax laws. The United States of America has always provided funds to foreign countries called “foreign aid” and that should be the countries main source of income. The 30 counties with land north of highway 29 would have a population of about a million and a quarter and with the U.S. Governments foreign aid of $5,000 for each person that would be about six billion dollars and that folks is about what its going to cost to build the wall.
The only bad part of this dream is that the State of Wisconsin would lose two congressional seats.
