Edward Joseph Fontaine passed away February 14th, 2019 at Our House Senior Living in Menomonie, WI. After many years with dementia he is now with our Heavenly Father in Peace.
He was born October 3, 1924 in Hubbell, Michigan to Edward Joseph Fontaine and Julia (Poisson) Fontaine. He graduated from high school in Laurium, Michigan.
Ed served two duties in WWII: first in the Marshall Islands from 3/1943 to 11/1945 and 2nd in the Army Airfield, Roswell, New Mexico from 11/1945 to 2/1947 as a Camera Technician.
Following his military service, he worked as a salesman across Wisconsin in the food industry.
Ed married Jeanette Cook on October 3, 1959 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. They owned and operated the JEM store in Boyceville, WI for 20 years before beginning in the craft and flea market business retiring in 2015.
Ed enjoyed traveling, camping and photography and his goal was to always make at least one person laugh every day. He donated to various churches over the years in the Boyceville area.
Ed is survived by Jeanette Fontaine; his daughter Michele (Fontaine) Rindfleisch and her husband Brad Rindfleisch and special friend Julie (Hellendrung) Berglund as well as many nieces and nephew and friends, old and new.
He was preceded in death by his father Edward, mother Julia, brother Gerard and sister Genevieve.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Pastor Stephen Boyd officiating. There will be visitation with light refreshments at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Military Honors will be conducted by Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends are welcome to join in the celebration of Ed’s long and active life.
