H. Joyce Myers, age 88 of Knapp, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Mayo Health Clinic System-Menomonie.

She was born February 20, 1930 in Stuart, Iowa to Dwight and Ethel (Lambert) Myers. Joyce was raised and went to school in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. She graduated from High School in Hammond, Wisconsin.

As a young girl, Joyce had a passion for riding horses. She was married in 1948 to Everett (Bill) Myers in Kansas City, Missouri.  They lived in Iowa until they moved with three little girls to a farm in Knapp. In 1955 there was a barn fire and the family moved near Glenwood City, Wisconsin.

She experienced many farming ventures over the years with dairy cows, pigs, sheep, goats, ponies and horses. Joyce worked at Shady Rest in Wilson, Murkley’s store in Glenwood City, and had an upholstery shop. Later she moved to Boyceville and went to school to become a CNA. She did home health care in the Menomonie area before she retired and moved to an apartment in Knapp.

Joyce always kept her hands busy with sewing, quilting, crocheting, and crafts. Joyce was a 41-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 330 of Wilson logging many hours of sewing for the Veteran’s Hospitals. She was a member of Knapp Methodist Church and the UMW. She enjoyed reading, flowers, and feeding the birds and especially those special visits with her grandchildren.

Joyce will be dearly missed by those left to celebrate her life. She is survived by three daughters; Nancy Kahler of Sturgis, SD, Elsie (Bob) Obermueller of Wilson, and Janet (Dave) Bladecki of Glenwood City, 8 grandchildren; Todd (Kelly) Kahler, Chad Kahler, Raechel (David) Pritchard, Charley (Renee) Obermueller, Rick (Sarah) Rock, Charlotte Rock, Christina (Darren) Olien, Rebecca Soderstrom, 26 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, grandson-in-law Jeff Barriault, 3 sisters-in-law; Jeanette Myers, Doris Merrick and Audrey Thelke.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight & Ethel, sister Geraldine (Wes) Goyler, 3 brothers; Robert, Marvin, Donnie, son-in-law Ed Kahler, grandson Nate Oehlke, granddaughter Kelly Barriault.

Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Knapp Methodist Church with Pastor Tim Vettrus officiating.  Burial was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Knapp Wisconsin.  Visitation was one hour prior to the services a the church. Olson Funeral Home of Menomonie is serving the family.
