Paul Kling hired as new Elk Mound High School principal

ELK MOUND  —  The Elk Mound Board of Education has hired a new Elk Mound High School principal.

The school board held a special meeting at 6:30 a.m. September 5, and during a closed session, agreed to contract with Paul Kling for the position of high school principal.

Kling has taught high school science in the Eau Claire Area School District and at New Richmond Alternative High School for the last 19 years, according to a news release from Eric Wright, superintendent of the Elk Mound Area School District.

Kling replaces former Elk Mound High School principal Paul Weber.

The Board of Education accepted Weber’s resignation at the school board’s August 20 meeting, and Weber’s last day of work in Elk Mound was Thursday, August 23.

Weber accepted an administrative position near Madison. He had served as high school principal in Elk Mound for the past 15 years.

“I am excited to be joining the Elk Mound Area School District. Elk Mound has a strong tradition of academics and co-curricular activities with exceptional students and staff. I look forward to being part of this exceptional learning community and building positive connections with the students, staff and the community,” Kling is quoted as saying in the news release.

Kling’s first day of employment in the Elk Mound school district was September 5.

Other business

In other business during the special meeting September 5, the Elk Mound Board of Education:

• Accepted the resignation during open session of Jodie Simet, high school science teacher.

• Approved hiring Wendy Nelson during closed session to replace Simet as the high school science teacher.

• Approved hiring Kaycie King during closed session as the elementary recess supervisor.
