Village Board hears reports, grants use permit for adult family home
BOYCEVILLE — The village Board heard several reports on village activities, granted operators licenses, reduced the price of lots at Anderson Hills and granted a Conditional Use Permit for an adult family home.
Holly Coombs appeared before the Board during a Public Hearing Monday evening to explain her request for that permit to allow her and her husband to operate the adult home at 1265 Nelson Drive. She informed the board that the home would offer 24-hour care for up to four people.
A couple of people that were in attendance at the Public Hearing, asked questions about the facility. After some discussion the Village Board approved the Conditional Use Permit.
Village Board member Brad Stevens reported about his discussion with a realtor about listing the village lots at the Anderson Hill Subdivision. Stevens noted that he was informed that the village was asking too much for lots. Stevens indicated, he was told, that a price of around $15,000 was more in line, as compared to the more than $30,000 that the village is asking.
Village President Gib Krueger noted that maybe the village was asking too much, “They are not selling with us asking over $30,000,” Krueger stated. “But I don’t think we can lower the price to $15,000.” He told the other members of the board. Without much more discussion the Board voted to lower the price for the lots to $25,000.
During his report, Village Public Works director, Don Rose, noted that most of the concrete work on the new sidewalks in the “Safe Route To School” program has been completed. But he informed the board that the railroad crossings have yet to be addressed. “We are waiting for the railroad to respond,” he said.
Police Chief Greg Lamkin reported about some suspicious notes that were posted along one street. His report indicated that he had conferred with the FBI and it was determined that no threat was perceived. He also informed the board that one of the police cars was damaged in an accident and that has been repaired and is back in service. He also noted that he met with school officials and endorsed their safety grant request to the state. He said that the department issued a citation on a tobacco compliance check.
The board also heard from Lisa Krueger about a noise complaint and junk and Demo cars in her neighborhood. She suggested that a new ordinance maybe needed to address the matter.
In other action the board approved the following:
• Accepted a Certified Survey Map for 1329 Tiffany Street.
• A building permit for AT&T Antenna Upgrade, at the site near the water tower.
• Upgrading ATV routes within the village to conform to the new state regulations.
• Granted the following operator licenses for the year ending June 30, 2019: Brooklyn Booth, Haleigh Styer, Mathew Leach, Morgan Kuhn, Larinda Hessler, Amber Kelly, Reyse Klatt, and Hallie Knutson for Buckshots; Carrie Jones, Wayne Logsdon, Katherine Hanson, Theresa Raehsler, Hunter Cormican, Patricia Loback, Katelyn Kegen, Trey Brinker, Jonathan Gonzales, Brandon Hakanson, Abigail Kegan, Cassandra Malean, Samantha Sorensen, and Tony Koorn for Cenex; Brenda McClelland, Sandy Blechinger, Paula Gramling, Kathryn Kunkle, and Ronald LeMire for Fatboys; Cory Green, Brian Marlette, Carrie Green, Donald Rose, and Andrew Matthews for the Boyceville Fire Fighters.
• Granted a Class “A” Beer and Class “A” intoxicating license to Boyceville Cenex and a Class “B” Beer and Class “B” intoxicating license to J&J Buckshots, Jamie Tilleson, agent and Fatboys Emporium LLC, Rick Bloomfield, agent.
