Colfax Health and Rehab – 5-9-2018
News for the week of April 29th to May 5th:
One of our favorite entertainers stopped by on Sunday afternoon. The residents always enjoy it when Riverboat Randy comes. His light hearted songs are always a delight to listen to, and he has a great way of lifting everyone’s spirits.
Monday morning craft group met in the Square and started work on a new project. We made sun catchers for our windows. They were very easy and look really pretty. The afternoon was time for Movie and Popcorn. This week’s offering was The Shakiest Gun in the West starring Don Knotts. Laughter could be heard down the halls as all enjoyed his comedic acting.
Tuesday morning our weekly volleyball teams met in the East Dining Room. The residents love to play our version of this game and it can become very competitive. But usually at the end, we declare everyone a winner as we all get some exercise while having a great time. The afternoon found our Bingo enthusiasts in the Square. All went away with bags full of treats. Volunteers Michelle, Patty and Eileen always make sure this fun hour runs smoothly. Just before supper we were blessed to have Jordan Herrick come and spend some time with us. Not only does he bring an inspiring message, but also sings some of our favorite hymns.
Pastor Schroetter led us in our Wednesday morning church service. We appreciate him taking the time to come and share with us. We enjoyed his inspiring message, and also singing along to our favorite hymns. Leona was here once again as she came for the service and helped those who needed find the songs in their books. Residents gathered in the afternoon for a Sing a Long with Bev Ward. We always look forward her visits as she leads us in an hour of singing our favorite tunes. Even if we can’t sing very well, her beautiful voice drowns out all the bad notes the rest of us hit!
Our crafter gathered in the Square again on Thursday morning to make more sun catchers. The tables were full as other residents wanted to try out their artistic skills. Meanwhile exercises were the order of business in the East Dining Room. Tony leads this group and always makes exercising a fun time. Special guests at our exercise hour were two baby geese that Deanna brought in. Everyone enjoyed holding them and watching them waddle around the floor. The rolling pins came out in the afternoon as we gathered to make a batch of our famous dog treats. The treats will be sold at our thrift sale on Saturday. After an hour of bounce ball in the evening, residents spent some time in prayer and devotions led by Jordan Herrick. It is great that he takes time from his busy schedule to share with us.
The Catholics gathered on East for our Friday morning rosary group led by Loretta. Later we held Gospel Sing a Long. We love picking out our favorite hymns to sing. Kathy and Bruce lead us in this hour of music and prayer. Friday afternoon, Dime Bingo was played in the Square. It is always a great way to end the week.
Highlights for next weeks’ activity schedule include music by Dan the One Man Band and an afternoon of music by Peggy and Bob.
Until next week, Barb Stobb, Activity Director
