HUDSON  —  A 66-year-old Glenwood City man charged with six felonies related to sex crimes involving children has been sentenced to four years in state prison and four years of extended supervision.

Joseph R. Brabeck was sentenced in St. Croix County Circuit Court April 17.

Brabeck was charged with three counts of possessing child pornography, one count of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, one count of second degree sexual assault of a child (Chippewa County case) and child enticement with sexual contact (Chippewa County case).

Brabeck was arrested in a park in Chippewa Falls in the fall of 2015 following an online sex sting.

Brabeck had allegedly arranged for a nude photo shoot and sex acts with an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl.

After Brabeck was arrested, authorities confiscated Brabeck’s home computer at his Glenwood City address, and child pornography was discovered on the hard drive.

As part of a plea deal, Brabeck pleaded guilty to one count of the possession of child pornography at a court hearing in St. Croix County January 10.

The Chippewa County charges of second degree sexual assault of a child and child enticement with sexual contact were read into the record for sentencing and dismissed in the St. Croix County sentencing hearing.

Two of the three child pornography counts also were dismissed but read into the record for sentencing as was the count of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.

A $5,000 cash bail was set in the St. Croix County case, and a $10,000 signature bond was set for bail in the Chippewa County case.

As a condition of extended supervision, Brabeck is to have no unsupervised contact with minors under the age of 18 years old without the permission of his probation agent.

Brabeck must also follow state Department of Correction sex offender rules and register as a sex offender as required by state law.

In addition, Brabeck must complete sex offender evaluation and comply with the requirements and must also complete all other programming deemed appropriate by the COMPAS Risk & Need Assessment and the probation agent.

Brabeck is not allowed to use electronic devices without the permission of his probation agent, and he must pay a $500 child pornography surcharge, $268 in court costs and a $250 DNA surcharge.
