Suspect in Dunn County homocide taken into custody

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a homicide.

On Friday, March 23rd the body of a 24-year-old Eau Claire man was discovered in a car in rural Springbrook township in Dunn County. Upon discovery of the body it was clear that his injuries were not self-inflicted. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dunn County Medical Examiner.

The Wisconsin State Crime lab was contacted to assist with the collection of evidence and the Wisconsin State Patrol was brought in to assist with scaled mapping of the scene. An autopsy was completed by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office in St. Paul on Saturday.

A suspect has been identified and charges are likely to be filed later this week by the Dunn County District Attorney once all details of the investigation can be brought together. The investigation continues as more potential witnesses may be identified and interviewed.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office does not believe there is any threat to the safety of local residents as the suspect in this case is being detained for other reasons.

No other details of this case can be released at this time due to the integrity of the investigation.
