CLAYTON — Ben Luer’s Bulldog boys’ basketball team may have been missing a member from the court last Thursday, but the Boyceville squad still pulled off a win to keep momentum during the holiday break.
Cooper Boesl was notably missing from the roster at the Clayton tournament where the Dogs took on the Northwood High School Evergreens Thursday, December 28, which coach Luer admitted made things a little closer than they might otherwise have been, but the Bulldogs still pulled off a 48-40 win to move to 3-5 overall as they head back into Dunn-St. Croix play later this week with a 0-3 conference record.
[emember_protected] “We played good defense, but were a little stagnant on offense,” the Boyceville coach said. “We were missing Cooper. We didn’t shoot well, but we are happy that we can get a win on a short week after Christmas.”
Seniors Bryce Boda and Luke Knudtson continued their team-leading ways, with Boda picking up 20 points on eight field goals and a trio of charity shots, and Knudtson scoring 17 with eight field goals and a single free throw.
Logan Knudtson sent in a pair of threes in the first half to score six points, Bryce Larson drained a three-pointer, and Jaden Reisimer hit a field goal for two.
Northwood’s top player was Brandon Daleiden, who scored 11 points for the Evergreens.
Boyceville will take on Mondovi at home January 5 before hosting Cadott January 8. The Bulldogs are scheduled to play down the road at Glenwood City January 11.
