PLUM CITY — The Colfax girls took on Plum City/Elmwood last Thursday night, and it was not just the usual suspects making plays in the game.
Sophomore Morgan Schleusner seemingly came out of nowhere in the December 21 game to score 17 points in Colfax’s 65-32 shellacking of the Wolves in Plum City.
[emember_protected] “She (Schleusner) was all over the place making a lot of things happen,” Doucette said a day later.
Colfax had a lot of players fare well in the game thanks to a talented bench who seemed unafraid of the Wolves’ size and athleticism. The coach said his team moved the ball well, and it was a nice win overall.
While Doucette is worried about his team finding ways to score against tough teams, he is pleased with the defense he is seeing out of the Colfax ladies, and feels he has a good team.
Schleusner led the game in scoring, but junior Alyssa Dachel was not far behind with 14 points of her own after drilling four three-pointers and a field goal. Rachel Scharlau and Jayna Bowe came off the bench to provide some solid defense, but also provided nine points and eight points respectively.
Savannah Henricks and Josie Steinke tied with three points apiece, Addy Olson sent in a shot from deep for three, and Emma Hurlburt and Marissa Harmon provided two points apiece.
Katie Feuker was the Wolves’ leading player with 12 points.
Colfax will head to the Dodgeland Tournament December 27, but then will be back at home versus Bloomer January 2. They will take on Glenwood City at home January 4, and host Mondovi January 9.
The team is 4-3 overall and has a 3-1 record in the Dunn-St. Croix.
