Glenwood City native, Ron Jasperson has been named the 2017 Firefighter of the Year for the City of Durand. Ron is a First Lieutenant on the fire department. He works full-time as a registered surveyor for Auth Consulting Associates in Menomonie.
According to an article in the Durand newspaper, The Courier-Wedge, the citation was read aloud at the award ceremony and indicated a number of reasons Jasperson was chosen as Firefighter of the Year. He has been very involved in helping write grant applications for the department. Most recently his assistance aided the department in being awarded a grant that was used to purchase ice rescue equipment.
Jasperson was also noted for having been very dedicated to his training over the last six years, wrapping up a fire officer’s class recently.
Not only was Ron honored, by the fire department, his wife, Becky, was also honored by being awarded the EMT of the Year. Becky, who is a full time insurance agent at the Jerry Thompson Insurance Agency and a Durand native, was citied for her continual dependability and professionalism.
Becky was noted for being a team player, having demonstrated the true meaning of volunteerism through her service to the Ambulance Service.
