Colfax Health and Rehab – 12-13-2017

News for the Week of December 3rd to December 9th:

Monday found the Green Leaf Crafters starting another Holiday project. We began making Candy Cane Wreaths to adorn our rooms. They are easy to make and look quite elegant when they are done.

The afternoon found residents in the East Lounge to enjoy one of our favorite Christmas movies, White Christmas. Later resident gathered to help the National Honor Society students decorate the Christmas tree in the East Dining Room. The residents enjoyed visiting with the students while they decorated.

Tuesday morning found many in the East Dining Room for an hour of Kicking Karoke. Tony leads the group that combines our favorite songs with a little exercise. This time it was holiday music that we sang and stretched to. Bingo was on the schedule for the afternoon and all came away with bags full of treats to keep them supplied for the week.

Pastor Janelle from the Sand Creek Lutheran Church led us in our Wednesday morning church service. Everyone enjoyed her special message, and we always enjoy singing our favorite hymns. Right after lunch it was back in the Square where the Bloomer High School Juggling group showed off their talents. They showed us how to “multi task” in a very unique way. After the students were done, it was time for entertainment by Chuck Kirkwood and Friends. It was certainly a busy afternoon and fun was had by all!

Thursday morning we once again gathered for our weekly volleyball tournament. The residents really enjoy this activity in which we all get our exercise and have some fun while doing it. Meanwhile in the Square we finished up our candy cane wreaths. They were very festive looking when they were done. The Square filled in the afternoon for our Lighting of the Christmas Star program. All listened as the names were read honoring and remembering loved ones from the community and beyond. Our Christmas Star campaign was a huge success due to the wonderful and giving people of Colfax and the surrounding area.

Friday was busy here at Colfax Health and Rehab. We started out with our weekly rosary group led by Loretta. Later in the Square we held Gospel Sing a Long. We love picking out our favorite hymns to sing. Kathy and Bruce lead us in this hour of music and prayer.  In the afternoon, Dime Bingo was played in the Square. Everyone went away with a little more jingle in their pocket.

Saturday the Elk Mound Girl Scouts caroled throughout the building. The residents and staff are truly getting in the holiday spirit due in part to all of the local groups coming to sing for us!

Next week will be another busy week at the Big Yellow House with our annual Family Christmas Open House for the Nursing Home with music by Rich Schroedder and then a visit from Santa and his elf. Also several caroling groups and weather permitting we hope to get out to view the Christmas Lights.

Until Next week, stay warm!!
