News for the week of November 26th to December 2nd:
After the busy holiday weekend, it was business as usual here at the Big Yellow House. Our first annual Craft and Vendor Fair was a huge success and I want to thank all that attended along with everyone that sold their goods. Plans for a bigger and better event for next year are already in the works.
[emember_protected] Monday morning found many residents in the Square for our Monthly Breakfast Club. This month’s special meal was side pork, hash browns, scrambled eggs and toast. Later that morning residents helped sort our holiday decorations as they shared stories of the wonderful time they had with their families over the Thanksgiving holiday. The afternoon was spent decoration the tree in the front entrance. We especially enjoyed “hiding the pickle”, the last ornament put on the tree.
Tuesday morning found some residents gathering for Toss the Ball and exercise group in the East Dining Room. Meanwhile others help to place the hundreds of ornaments on the tree that adorns our Family Tree in the Square. Tuesday afternoon found our Bingo enthusiasts in the Square. All went away with bags full of treats. Volunteers Michelle and Eileen kept the game running smoothly.
Wednesday morning found many gathered in the Square for our weekly church service with Pastor Walck. We appreciate him taking the time to come and share with us. The afternoon was filled with magic, music and fun as one of our favorite entertainers Magic Mary traveled from Chippewa Falls to spend time with us. We laughed, sang our favorite tunes and enjoyed social hour after her show.
Thursday morning, residents gathered in the Square for our weekly volleyball tournament. This activity brings out our competitive side, and all agree it’s a fun way to get some exercise. The afternoon found residents gathering for our monthly Resident Council. The busy December calendar was reviewed, and all are excited about the many programs and singing groups scheduled to visit. We are also looking forward to our annual outings to see the area Christmas Lights.
Friday morning found the Catholics gathering for our weekly rosary led by Loretta. After rosary, it was time for Gospel Sing a Long in the Square. Bruce and Kathy led the residents in an hour of sharing and special words. Dime Bingo was the activity for the afternoon. Once again many went away with a little more jingle in their pocket.
Next week we are looking forward to continuing the holiday season with highlights including visits from several caroling groups, the middle school choir, and an afternoon with Chuck Kirkwood and Friends. Bouncing into town on Wednesday will be the Jugglers from the Bloomer High School. We always look forward to their visits. On Thursday we will hold our annual Love Light Program and the lighting of our Christmas Star.
Until next week,
