Boyceville School District among grant winners at Women’s Giving Circle Fall Philanthropic Gala

The Women’s Giving Circle (WGC) of Menomonie held its Fall Philanthropic Gala on Thursday, November 1st at the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts.  Over seventy members and guests socialized from 5:30-6:30 and enjoyed a delicious selection of appetizers created by Zanzibar Restaurant & Pub owner, Mark Johnson.  The highlight of the evening was the awarding of over $10,000 in grants to the following local charitable organizations:

• Boyceville Community School District: Resilience/health realization book program – $1200

• Dunn County Health Department: Client support for NFP and WIC programs – $2226.50

• Junior Achievement of Wisconsin, Inc.: Middle/high school financial literacy growth – $1000

• Menomonie Police Department: Cops 4 Kids program – $1000

• School District of the Menomonie Area: Resilience & health realization for suicide prevention – $950

• The Bridge To Hope: Bedding, mattresses and cribs for domestic abuse victims – $1500

• Work Force Resource, Inc.: Supportive services for women seeking employment – $2500

The room was filled with emotion as each organization’s representative came forward to share thanks and gratitude for the grants. Menomonie Police Chief Eric Atkinson was especially choked up as he spoke about building relationships with the children in the Cops 4 Kids program and how unselfish these children are by always putting their families first.

For Barb Lindberg, 2017 Grants Chair, it is her favorite of the WGC annual events. “This is the night when the grant applications that we have so carefully selected come to life. It makes me proud to be a member of this incredible organization,” said Lindberg.

The mission of the WGC is to improve the lives of Dunn County women and their families.  Established in 2013, the membership has quickly grown to over 100 members strong.  The Women’s Giving Circle of Dunn County is a component fund of the Community Foundation of Dunn County (CFDC), a 501(c)3 public charity.  If you are interested in joining, please contact CFDC’s Executive Director Georgina at 715-232-8019 or gtegart@cfdunncounty.org
