Hit and run sends bicyclist to hospital

On Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 1:01 p.m., the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle vs. bicycle crash in the 1000 block of USH 12 in the Town of Warren.

According to witness, a 2013 Ford Focus going west on USH 12, being driven by Brian Warwick, age 43 from Roberts, WI, struck a bicycle being ridden by Edward Bridges, age 52 from Peoria, IL. When Bridges was struck, he flew over the windshield and landed in the north ditch. Warwick did not stop when he struck Bridges and was followed by a witness until sheriff’s deputies were able to stop the car on USH 12 near Alexander Rd in the Town of Hudson.

Warwick was arrested for Hit & Run Causing Injury and Injury by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle. He was taken to the St. Croix County Jail pending formal charges by the district attorney’s office.

Bridges was not wearing a helmet. He was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN by St. Croix EMS with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Assisting at the scene was the Wisconsin State Patrol, Roberts Fire and Rescue, and St. Croix EMS.
