7th St. Croix County traffic fatality occurs in New Richmond

On Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 3:08 p.m., the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road G and 140th St. in Richmond Township.

A 2001 Toyota Corolla, driven by Megan K. Bennig, age 16 of New Richmond, WI was southbound on 140th St. As she entered the intersection, she was struck by a 1993 Kenworth semi traveling on County Road G, being operated by Weston S. Gray, age 19, of Centuria, WI. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.

Megan Bennig died at the scene because of injuries she sustained in the crash. Weston Gray was not injured. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

Assisting at the scene were New Richmond Fire and EMS and New Richmond Medics, Roberts Fire, St. Croix County Medical Examiner, St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

This is the 7th traffic fatality of 2017 in St. Croix County. The crash remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
