Colfax Police Department responds to 76 calls for service in August

COLFAX —  The Colfax Police Department responded to 76 calls for service with 17 traffic stops in August, according to the report included in the Colfax Village Board packet at the September 25 meeting.

Here is a breakdown of the calls:

• Assist other agency: 5 — suicidal subject; traffic crash; two traffic stops; domestic arrest.

• Traffic accident: 2 — two-car accident; hit and run.

• Ambulance assist: 1.

• Assist citizen: 3 — two open doors; broken down vehicle.

• Civil: 3 — property dispute; neighbor dispute; animal dispute.

• 911 Hangup/misdial: 1.

• Open door: 1 — high school.

• Animal complaint: 3 — barking dog; dog at large; animal in live trap.

• Suspicion: 11 — person asking odd questions; strange vehicle at residence; intoxicated male; late night car at ball fields; person in business after hours; lights on in vacant vehicle; suspicious male in alley; door to door salesman running from school; car speeding away from area.

• OVT: 1 — vehicle parked on street facing wrong way. 

• Warrant: 2 — felony drug charges; probation warrant.

• Fire calls: 2 — smoldering fire near river; smell of gas.

• Juvenile: 2 — runaway; threats to harm self.

• Traffic complaint: 1 — loud muffler.

• Check welfare: 3 — elderly female; two suicidal person calls.

• Drugs: 2 — subject trying to buy drugs; report of subject smoking meth.

• Theft: 6 — two separate break-ins to coin box; miscellaneous items from property; theft of groceries; theft of hitch dolly.

• Lost/found: 1 — ID card returned to owner.

• Parking complaint: 1 — truck parked for several days.

• Property watch: 1.

• Domestic: 1 — exes moving out and arguing.

• Noise: 1 — air horn in trailer park.

• Abatement: 1 — junk vehicle.

• Fraud: 1 — someone fraudulently using credit cards at several Wal-Marts.

• License application: 1 — transient merchant for door-to-door book sales.

• Public relations: 1 — at high school.
