News for the week of September 24th to October 1st:
Monday morning craft group met in the Square to start work on our next project. We are making fall banners to hang on our doors.
Today we counted out the groups of petals that we needed for each sunflower that will adorn the top of our banners. We also cut out the centers for the flowers. Meanwhile the East Dining Room filled with residents ready to begin the week getting a little exercise. Tony led the group as their arms were swinging and legs were flying. Later the group reminisced about how everyone used to get their exercise. The afternoon found many in the Square for our cooking class with Chef Andy. We didn’t know what he had planned for us to make, but we knew whatever it was it was going to be delicious. Well, we weren’t disappointed as Andy showed us how to make chocolate truffles. And of course when they were done we had to sample them, and they were delicious! Later that afternoon many gathered for our Monday Cocktail hour. This is a great time to visit with old friends and make new ones while enjoying our favorite beverage.
Tuesday morning found many in the East Dining Room for an hour of Kicking Karaoke. Tony leads the group that combines our favorite songs with a little exercise. The afternoon found our Bingo enthusiasts in the Square. All went away with bags full of treats. Volunteers Michelle and Eileen always make sure this fun hour runs smoothly.
Pastor Wik led us in our Wednesday morning church service. We appreciate him taking the time to come and share with us. The afternoon found Peggy and Bob (and Teresa) in the Square where they entertained us with several beautiful Folk tunes. It was their first time here and all the residents agreed they would love to have them come back soon!
Thursday morning found the Green Leaf Crafters back in the Square to continue working on our fall banners. This time we cut out the letters that will adorn them. Right after craft group we gathered up residents for a ride to Leffel Roots Apple Orchard in Eau Claire. It was a beautiful day for a ride and many of us returned with some of our favorite apples.
The Catholics gathered on East for our Friday morning rosary group led by Loretta. Later in the Square we held Gospel Sing a Long. We love picking out our favorite hymns to sing. Kathy and Bruce lead us in this hour of music and prayer. Because it was another beautiful day, we decided to gather up more residents for another trip to the apple orchard. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed driving thru the beautiful countryside. We returned in time to get ready for an afternoon of dime bingo which was played in the Square. It is always a great way to end the week.
Next week’s highlights include music by Rich Schroetter and Riverboat Randy. We may even take another ride out to the country to see some more fall color.
Until next week, Barb Stobb, Activity Director
