Dunn County proposing budget of $80.5 million for 2018

MENOMONIE  — Dunn County’s proposed budget for 2018 is $80.5 million, compared to a budget of $78.3 million for 2017, representing an increase of $2.2 million.

Tonya Kusmirek, Dunn County’s chief financial officer, reported on the proposed 2018 budget at the Dunn County’s Board’s September 20 meeting.

Even with alternative financing of $1.77 million and with $1.97 million from the fund balance, the proposed budget still has a deficit of $1.87 million, Kusmirek said.

According to the 2018 budget summary presented to the county board, the total estimated revenue for 2018 is $78.68 million.

The estimated tax levy available in 2018 is $21.62 million.

The county’s executive committee will meet October 11 to work on balancing the budget, Kusmirek said.

Here are some of the budget requests for 2018:

• Administration — $6.3 million.

• Child support — $677,373.

• Circuit court — $1.4 million.

• Corporation counsel — $386,744.

• County board and committees — $156,271.

• District attorney — $635,148.

• Emergency communications — $1.425 million.

• Environmental services — $1.9 million

• Extension — $297,503.

• Fair Board — $177,656.

• Libraries — $780,195.

• Medical examiner — $421,877.

• Public health — $1.35 million.

• Register of Deeds — $293,295.

• Sheriff — $6.78 million.

• Treasurer — $237,959.

• Veteran Service — $219,164.
