Bulldog CC girls’ fourth, boys’ seventh at Fall Creek Invitational

FALL CREEK — Boyceville’s cross country teams continue to improve as the season moves along.

The best example of this is the girls’ fourth-place finish after earning 103 points at Fall Creek’s Knudtson Invitational this past Saturday, and the boys’ taking seventh out of nine with 163 points.

[emember_protected] It was a bright, sunny day with temperatures in the mid-60s when the races started.

Emily Voelker was the first of the Lady Bulldogs to reach the finish line, running a 24:06.7 race for 10th overall. Naomi Hillman followed in 16th with her 24:55.7 run.

Lauryn Dominic finished in 26:31.3 for 26th place, Noelle Wheeldon ran to the line in 27:22.0 for 29th, and Marissa Dormanen completed a 28:00.5 race for 32nd overall.

Osseo-Fairchild’s Kari Herman won the individual race in 20:21.4, while Tomahawk’s girls took the team win with 33 points after four girls finished in the top 10.

On the boys’ side, freshman Nathan Corr continued his team-leading rookie running season when he was the first Boyceville runner to the finish line. He finished in 19:57.0 for 23rd. Steven Rasmussen was next to finish, running a 20:19.1 race for 26th.

Senior Rian Corr was the third runner to the line, taking 35th with a time of 20:40.8, while Cade Klefstad finished in 21:14.2 for 41st. Ryker Ferg finished in 22:08.0, Nathaniel Chich in 22:43.0, and Samuel Chich in 22:44.0 for 52nd, 53rd and 54th.

Durand’s Panther boys’ ran away with the team trophy, earning 36 points after their top five runners finished as part of the top 15. Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran High school’s Dan Lau copped the individual race with a time of 17:23.0.

The Bulldogs ran at Rice Lake September 12, and will make an appearance at the 2017 Chieftain Invitational at Osceola September 16. Boyceville will run at Mondovi September 19.
