Lower Chippewa Invasives Partnership to host invasive species tour June 15

MENOMONIE —  The Lower Chippewa Invasives Partnership will be hosting an invasive species tour June 15.

LCIP invites you to come on the tour of common invasive plants of Western Wisconsin as part of invasive species awareness month in June.

The invasive species tour is a bus tour, so transportation will be provided to all locations of invasive species.

The event is free and open to anyone who is interested in learning more about invasive species.

The tour of the area will include 15 or more plant species infesting roadsides.

At each location, people on the tour will get out of the bus to learn more about identifying the invasive species and the reporting methods for each species of plant.

Invasive species in this area include Leafy Spurge, Wild Parsnip, Common Buckthorn, Japanese Knotweed, Garlic Mustard, Spotted Knapweed and Wild Chervil.

The invasives species tour on Thursday, June 15, begins at 1:30 p.m. and runs until 4 p.m.

People going on the tour will meet at the state Highway 29 Red Cedar Trail Depot in Menomonie.
